Saxophonist Chris Veilleux received his bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies from Northern Illinois University. While living in the Chicago area, he performed with many professional groups such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, The John Bernett Orchestra, and Chicago's leading salsa merengue band, Banda Rika. As a classical saxophonist Veilleux has performed with The Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra several times under the direction of Carmen DeLeon, and once with guest artist Lou Marini. Chris is also a recipient of Downbeat magazine's 26th annual student music award under the category of Best College Chamber Music Group for a classical saxophone quartet recording.
Currently, Chris is living in Boston and is working on several of his own creative music projects including Industrious Noise. The group's debut CD, Trio, will be released fall 2006 on Creative Nation Music. Chris is also a member of Charlie Kohlhase's Saxophone Support Group, Jerry Sabatini's Sonic Explorers and a collaborative soprano sax duo project with Dan Blake. Veilleux is currently enrolled at the New England Conservatory and is working on his master's degree in Creative Improvisation (Third Stream).
